This week I’ve been creating a bunch of new programs and content. I am excited to share everything with you soon 🙂
Today I’m sharing with you why it’s important to choose a niche in order to grow your business.
Have a great weekend and I’ll “chat” with you next week!
Per Wikipedia, a niche market is a focused, targetable portion (subset) of a market sector. Essentially it’s a group of people that have something in common that you are directing your marketing efforts towards. For instance, a niche could be entrepreneurs, dental hygienists, people going through divorce, etc. The idea behind choosing a niche is that you want to be known as a specialist to your clients and customers, not a generalist. If you ask yourself if you yourself would rather hire a generalist or specialist, you are likely going to say specialist too. If you have a health condition, you are going to want to see a doctor that specializes in that area 🙂
When you run your own business it’s equally as important. People want to work with specialists. They want expertise and super quality information.
Keep in mind a niche can be a specific industry or demographic. For example, it could be real estate agents or a group of characteristic that people have in common, i.e. people between 20 & 30 years old, who are feeling stuck in their jobs and who want to make a change.
The other great thing about choosing a niche is that it helps you get super clear on whom your ideal client is and what you have to offer them. This helps enormously to market your services and products. Without choosing a niche, you are kind of just flouncing around 🙂
Another great benefit of choosing a niche is that it’s a confidence booster. Yay! Recognizing how you can help people will help you get motivated to get out there 🙂
Don’t worry, just because your marketing is geared towards your niche, it doesn’t mean you can only work with those types of people. If you’re just getting your business up and running or someone outside of your niche really needs your help, it’s still okay to help them if it works for you.
If you need help choosing a niche, make a list of everything you are good at, what your strengths are and how you got to where you are today. You will likely identify an area to focus on pretty easily. Don’t worry if you’re stuck, just get out there and it will become clear later. Pay attention to who you are naturally attracting too 🙂
