I am just loving this time of year! In San Diego ice skating is at the outdoor mall, which is just magical right now, with fake snow blowing, singers performing, lights everywhere, and winter characters walking around on stilts!
We went for dinner first and I thought, I will take the fake snow blowing and palm trees all lit up while having dinner & drinks on the patio under a heater ALL DAY LONG! Even with my new affinity for Lake Tahoe π€£
Celebrating and appreciating our dreams, how far we’ve come and the journey to get there will always hold a special place in my heart β€οΈ
And creating systems in our lives plays a big part in creating them. It allows us to receive and say we’re worthy of more. Whatever way that love and joy manifests for each of us.
So part 2 this week of systems is around money & bills. If you missed part 1 of this 4-part series, just go back to an email from us last Saturday π
πππ
Okay so I’ve done A LOT of reading about systems around budgeting and keeping track of money over the years, and my favourite is David Bach’s. He has a lot of great books out there, like “The Latte Factor”, and also has a great course that addresses entrepreneurs specifically.
He teaches how to organize your current money, and a system for keeping track of it overall for growth. From dream accounts, fun money, to short & long terms savings.
I love it and highly recommend it.
And here is your action step for this week – which I’m sorry to say it took me wayyyy too long to figure this one out!!
My husband and I used to meet weekly to go over our finances, and I have to say it was excruciating. He loves to analyze, and I like to just “get erβ done”. Complimentary in the bigger picture, but not fun on a weekend π€£
I then moved to having time during the work week to take care of all bills, banking, etc.
I was moving forward in the right direction – with allowing myself to even do this during the work week…why did everything have to be on a weekend?! π€
All kinds of belief systems tied up in there around what “work” actually is.
BUT… giving our finances a little TLC is π― a part of growth & abundance building.
So that was great for a while until I discovered paying bills automatically π€¦π»ββοΈ
Part of David Bach’s system is to automate everything… so having your savings, fun money, etc. being set-up to fund automatically every week / month, etc.
But in this day-and-age with technology, even bills can now be paid automatically.
So, that is your step for this week, and it doesn’t have to be done all at once.
As your bills, and any other payments become due, just login into the source (i.e., water company directly), and set-up automatic payments as you’re paying them.
THIS will FREE up so much of your time!!!
These are the systems that shout “worthiness” from the roof tops!
Now in terms of which account to pay them from?
Ideally you have a sizeable portion of your money funneling into a “bills” account – so this is where you would pay yourself as a business owner and where a spouse would do the same if you are in a working partnership.
That account is for all of the “necessities” to cover your currently lifestyle. You would make sure you’re putting enough in there monthly to cover these basic necessities.
Now with kids and activities, we treat that the same and all of our “lifestyle expenses” come out of there too to keep it easy.
And then it’s not used for anything else, like put away the bank card that comes with that account.
If you don’t have an account set-up like that? No biggie…
Either choose an existing account to operate that way or open a new one online with your existing bank… it takes 2 minutes.
Then slowly move things over as they come due.
AND also enroll in David Bach’s course, or at least read some of his books!
Happy Saturday & happy organizing of systems as we close out 2021!
Iβm heading out to my sonβs baseball game and not staying home to do any banking π
